MORAVIAN DAILY TEXT
Sixth Sunday of Easter
Watchword for the week – Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise. Psalm 66:1-2
Sunday, May 10 – Acts 17:22-31; Psalm 66:8-20; 1 Peter 3:13-22; John 14:15-21
If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire and out of your hand, O king, let him deliver us. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods and we will not worship the golden statue that you have set up. Daniel 3:17-18
These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, “I know your works. Look, I have set before you an open door that no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” Revelation 3:7,8
Mighty God, you are our refuge in trials and our strength in uncertainty. Even when the way is hard, we trust in your power to save. Open the doors you have set before us, and help us walk forward in faith and courage. Amen.
Belief of the Church
With the whole of Christendom, we share faith in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe and confess that God has revealed Himself once and for all in His Son Jesus Christ; that our Lord has redeemed us with whole of mankind by His death and His resurrection; and that there is no salvation apart from Him. We believe that He is present with us in the Word and the Sacrament; that He directs and unites us through His Spirit and thus forms us into a Church. We hear Him summoning us to follow Him, and pray Him to use us in His Service. He joins us together mutually so that knowing ourselves to be members of His Body we become willing to serve each other.
