MORAVIAN DAILY TEXT
Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Watchword for the week – The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17
Sunday, September 15 – Exodus 32:7-14; Psalm 51:1-10 1; Timothy 1:12-17; Luke 15:1-10
I love you, O Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1
A woman in the city, who was a sinner, began to bathe Jesus’ feet with her tears and to dry them with her hair. Then she continued kissing his feet and anointing them with the ointment. Luke 7:37,38
Lord, you are our refuge and our strength – our salvation. May we show our gratitude and our love for you as freely and as sincerely as the one who bathed your feet with her tears. Amen.
Belief of the Church
With the whole of Christendom, we share faith in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe and confess that God has revealed Himself once and for all in His Son Jesus Christ; that our Lord has redeemed us with whole of mankind by His death and His resurrection; and that there is no salvation apart from Him. We believe that He is present with us in the Word and the Sacrament; that He directs and unites us through His Spirit and thus forms us into a Church. We hear Him summoning us to follow Him, and pray Him to use us in His Service. He joins us together mutually so that knowing ourselves to be members of His Body we become willing to serve each other.
